Week of November 29, 2010

English 10 students will enjoy movies and popcorn this week! They will also compare and contrast the To Kill a Mockingbird movie with the novel they recently finished reading. Then, before we begin Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, students will watch Remember the Titans and complete an assignment which focuses on comparing themes and characters with To Kill a Mockingbird. Next week, we will begin reading A Raisin in the Sun which includes several writing assignments. We will also continue to study Grammar and Parts of Speech (Verbs are next) before Winter break. Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving break!

Week of November 15, 2010

Our nine week unit on To Kill a Mockingbird culminates with a 100-point Unit Test this week (Test Dates Below). Before we begin our two-day test review, students also have two additional TKAM assignments due earlier in the week (Due Dates Listed Below).

Perspective Essay (50 points) - DUE MONDAY November 8th

Students will read the final 7 chapters of To Kill a Mockingbird this week and begin to review major themes, characters, and events from the novel in preparation for next week's 100-point Unit test. There will be a 20-point "pop" Quiz sometime this week... so make sure you take your time and read closely!
